In 2026 Grand Chapter and the American Commandery announced the creation of a Washington, D.C., sub-commandery to better serve our members in the area. Leading the sub-commandery is its first commander, HE Dr. The Chevalier David Warburton OBE, KJ, KCE, DSc, MD, FRCP, FRCS, FRCPCH, FRSTM&H, FRSM, FAPS, ATSF, FAAAS. The Washington Sub-Commandery will organize social and other events for local and visiting members of the Order.

HE Dr. The Chevalier David Warburton OBE, KJ, was born at Brocket Hall, Hertfordshire, UK, and educated at Enfield Grammar School (Founded 1554). He graduated in medicine from St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School and presently serves as a Professor in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, New York. David was also recently made President of the British Officers Club of Washington, DC, is immediate past President of the British United Services Club of Los Angeles, and served for over a decade as Vice President of the St Andrews Society of Los Angeles.

He was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2000 by H.M. the late Queen Elizabeth II for US/UK health care research collaboration. He also has been active in global health, focusing on Mongolia, where he was made a Hero of Friendship. He is also a Knight Commander of the Order of the Eagle and Jesus’s Seamless Tunic of Georgia.

David has been happily married to wife Leslie for 55 years. They reside primarily in Alexandria, Virginia, having moved there from California in 2025 to be nearer their children and grandchildren.
